Testing 1-2-3 ... Is this mike working?

If anybody is listening, I'm frustrated (and somewhat worried) by ZipCar's handling -- or lack thereof -- of potentially serious maintenance issues.

I use the same car frequently (weekly!). For the past few weeks, it has had a PRONOUNCED shimmy when braking at highway speeds (above 50MPH). This is *serious* maintenance issue, and ZipCar offers no way (that I can find) to report it. Nor is there any way to see if anybody else has reported it. Nor is there any way to determine whether anybody has tried to fix it.

The "member service" number offers no option to speak to a human while I don't have a reservation "open" (such as when I got home this morning). When I tried to speak to an agent through one of the other channels, I ended up in a hold queue that I gave up on after 15 minutes. The Boston office offers only an answering machine. No links on the website.

This symptom usually means a warped rotor. It *can* mean things that are much worse. If it were my own car, I'd want to at least schedule a shop visit *right now*. I would NOT just keep driving. If not repaired, all sorts of bad things can happen -- catastrophic loss of control, car fire (if the caliper is frozen, for example), and worse.

Ideally, I'd like to see some sort of trouble-ticket system, where I can file a report (online?), know that somebody looks at it, and track the status. I'd like to see if anybody else has already filed one. I'd like to see if this is a recurring problem. That sort of thing.

I really do wish that ZipCar did a better job *listening* -- and then doing something in response. At the moment, I see lots of slick marketing and well-done web pages.

Surely safety should come first!
