Zipcar Innovations

Just wondering what everyone would like to see from Zipcar in the future. How could they improve the process/fleet/car/experience. Any ideas?

Zipcars are dreamy...but Flexcars are cleaner. Why?

I'm an ex-Flexcar'er. I fully admit that when I signed up ~2 years ago that I meant to sign up for Zipcar, but did Flexcar instead. There was little brand differentiation then in my mind. City Car Share was the more spendy, more of a pain, but nonprofit option. And then there were the Other One(s). I spent a mistaken year as a Flexcar'er, rarely using it because the locations were lame.

But, maaaan, I tell you, the Flexcars were clean and nary a den

Multiple-reservations-in-a-day vs. whole day reservations

My crazy life is such that I might have a meeting in San Mateo in the morning, then two community meetings on top of each other at night the same day. I need a car for three hours in the morning and 4.5 hours at night, say. It's cheaper for me to rent a single car for the whole span of 9am-11pm and let it just sit in the lot while I work in my home office from noon to 6:30. Seems stupid, since another member (or lots of them) migh need it in those 6.5 hours. And I'm loathe to do to seperate s…

Why I think shared resources kick ass

This is a repost from my blog that I made last week regarding an experience with Philly Car Share (whom I heart). I'm working really hard to get PCS involved with the Philadelphia Coworking initiative for a number of reasons..some of which I outline. So here it goes:

I just got back from an afternoon driving an…

A Little Bit of Zipcar Controversy in Vancouver

From a comment on my Getting Greener post.

"An interesting note about Zipcar: they just launched in Vancouver (like, yesterday), and from what I can garner from my peers, they’re facing a lot of negative reaction.

Why? Because Vancouver has a venerable, much-loved car co-op (http://www.cooperativeauto.net/) and Zipcar is the first (

I did not stage this. When I saw this bench, the leaf was adhered to it just as you see it. It rained all day and the bench was wet, so I imagine the leaf blew onto the bench and just happened to stick. Ironically, the car the leaf is blotting out is part of an ad is for Zipcar, a "green" car-sharing company.
